Months Of The Year
Les mois, months
Un année, a year
Un an, a year
Les mois de l'année, the months of the year
In this chapter, we will look at the months of the year. These, similar to the days of the week, are not capitalized when we write them in a sentence. This is different from English as we would always capitalize names and titles like this.
January le Janvier, [luh][j-on-vee-ay]
February le février, [luh][fay-v-ree-ay]
March le mars [luh][mah-r-se]
April l’avril, [l-ah-v-ree-l]
May le mai, [luh][may]
June le juin, [luh][j-wah-n]
July le juillet [luh][j-wee-ay]
August le août [luh][oot]
September le septembre, [luh][sep-tom-b-ruh]
October, l’octobre, [l-oct-oh-b-ruh]
November, le novembre, [luh][no-vom-b-ruh]
December, le décembre, [luh][day-som-b-ruh]
Practice saying the names of the months aloud a few times over so you get comfortable with the pronunciation, and then we will look at them used in sentences below.
Mon anniversaire est dans le mois de juin. My birthday is in the month of June.
Ma fille an ete née le 30 janvier. My daughter was born January 30th.
Les mois entres novembre et mars sont très froid à l’état de New York. The months between November and March are very cold in the state of New York.
Il pleut beaucoup dans le mois d’avril. It rains a lot in the month of April.
